“The Power of Purchasing: The Economic Impacts of Local Procurement” is a May 2013 research case study on buying local, using the office supply industry to illustrate the impact on the local economy of British Columbia, Canada.  Comparing the community benefits of dollars spent with an independent supply dealer versus OfficeMax, Staples, and Office Depot, the study is full of statistics and justifications that show the local dealer provided between 77% and 100% greater benefit to the local economy!
